At a glance
Make a deployment understandable from repository input to published output.
Built the end-to-end deployment flow across GitHub input, isolated Docker builds, ECR, S3 publication, reverse-proxy routing, streaming logs, and explicit deployment states.
Qualitative: completed a working end-to-end deployment flow as an independent platform experiment.
The choice behind the implementation.
- Challenge
- A deployment flow becomes difficult to trust when build isolation, state, and failures remain hidden.
- Decision
- Model deployment as explicit states with isolated build work, published artifacts, routing, and streaming logs.
- Trade-off
- The first version covers a deliberately bounded platform surface, but the complete path remains visible and recoverable.
The premise
Deployment tools often hide the useful parts of the process until something fails. WebLift explored a more legible path from repository selection through build output and publication.
- 01Repository
Select the source and deployment intent.
- 02Build job
Create an isolated build environment.
- 03Artifact
Capture the generated static output.
- 04Publication
Move the artifact to S3-backed hosting.
- 05Routing
Configure the reverse-proxy boundary.
- 06Logs
Stream state and failures back to the interface.
Product decisions
- Make state transitions visible instead of showing one indefinite loading state.
- Keep build output separate from the control interface.
- Treat logs as a core product surface.
- Model failed and recoverable states explicitly.
Current limitation
This is an independent experiment, not a claim of operating a production hosting business. It demonstrates the end-to-end architecture and the product decisions behind a deployment workflow.
Source publication remains deliberate.
This is independent work. Public links remain opt-in until repository history, documentation, licensing, secrets, and reproducibility have been reviewed.
